2005

The CMAA was established in late September 2005, the original member were Glen Gardiner, Drew Lamber, John Brindley, Jeff Tuttle, and Andres Stokoway. Classes were originally conducted in the front drive and garage of Glen Gardiner's house before being moved to the squash courts at Kemang Villa Residential Complex. A suitable training facility was found in March 2006 and the CMAA dojo became a reality at Graha Simatupang on the 1st of April 2006.


2006

On 1st of April 2006,  the CMAA opened its first dojo on the Ground Floor of Graha Simatupang where 180 meters of matted training facility were established. In these early days classes included Zen Goshu Goshin Jutsu, Caco Doce Pares Arnis Eskrima, and IBF Nakamura Ryu.

In July 2006, Vincent Palumbo the 8th Degree Black Belt was sponsored by the CMAA to run a week long Cacoy Doce Pares training seminar at the CMAA dojo.

In November 2006, the CMAA submitted a team of 7 competitors for the Cacoy Doce Pares World Federation 2006 World Championships held in Cebu, Philippines, winning 10 medals. This was the first event that an Indonesian National won a medal at international level in this sport and the first competition that the CMAA had ever competed in. In December 2006, CMAA members competed in the Indonesian National Submission Grappling Championship held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

During December 2006, Gordon "Jock" Armstrong Kancho Zen Goshu Goshin Jutsu (ZGGJ) conducted a two week training seminar on ZGGJ and International Batto Do Federation (IBM) Nakamura Ryu.


2007

Irwan Hermawan wins Bronze in Synergy Jiu Jitsu White Belt BJJ Competition.

During the 2007, the CMAA awarded the responsibility to host the 2007 CDPWF World Championship to be held in Jakarta, September 2007. The event took the club nearly 12 months to organize through fundraising and by obtaining sponsorship. 11 countries participated with over 120 competitors competing. The CMAA during the event also hosted senior Indonesian National Police and other dignitaries, the Australian Ambassador, the Polish Ambassador, as well as Suprem Grand Master Cacoy Canete of the CDP WF and the late Grand Master Roland Dantes of the National Arnis Association of the Philippines. At the awards presentation, CMAA students Drew Lambert and John Brindley were both awarded their Shodan 1st degree black belts in CDPWF from Supreme Grand Master Cacoy Canete.

The CMAA represting Indonesia and submitting a team of 27 competitors won 38 individual and team medals; results are recorded below:

In December 2007, the CMAA club relocated from Graha Simatupang to the Tetra Pak Building complex in Jalan Buncit Raya Kav 100, Jakarta. During the remainder of the year, the CMAA continued to furbish their new facility.

 

2008

In February 2008, the CMAA commenced  the providing after school training activities for the New Zealand International School. This involved the development of a school program teaching body awareness coordination skills, martial arts and self defense awareness and legal considerations. Over the years, the training has also include training focusing on the various martial arts systems taught at the CMAA.

In Marc 2008, CMAA Senior Instructor Glen Gardiner was inducted into the Cacoy Doce Pares World Federation (CDPWF) Hall of Fame for "Excellence in the Promotion of Sports Eskrima". Drew Lambert and John Brindley attend the presentatoin on Glen's behalf as well as attending CDPWF training seminars in Cebu, Philippines.

In June 2008, Gordon "Jock" Armstrong conducted his second training seminar in Jakarta for IBM Nakamura Ryu.

In October 2008, CMAA Senior Instructor Glen Gardine was inducted into the Australian Martial Arts Hall of Fame in the "Martial Artist of the Year" category in the Gold Coast, Australia.

In October 2008, the CMAA sent a team of four competitors to compete Inaugural NZCKEAI (New Zealand Council of Kali Eskrima Arnis Instructors) National Stick Fighting Championship held in Christchurch, NZ. This event included participants from across New Zealand, Australia, and Indonesia with 70 competitors attending the event. Results are as follows:

In November 2008, Irwan Hermawan and other members of the CMAA promoted the inaugural Knife Fighting Competition in Indonesia, "Blade Master 2008", 80 competitors attendted the event from Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung and Surabaya. The CMAA team were the runner up in the team division.

 

2009

In April 2009, the CDPWF 2009 World Stick Fighting Championship was held in Cebu, Philippines. The CMAA submitted a team of 17 competitors; results are as follows:

Zen Goshu Goshin Jutsu and International Batto Do Sword Instructor to Visit Jakarta

Gordon “Jock” Armstrong, sensei Head Instructor of Zen Goshu Goshin Jutsu and international Batto Do Federation (IBF) sword instructor will visit Jakarta for several weeks in December 2006 at the request of the Combined Martial Arts Academy (CMAA).  While here he will train CMAA students in Goshin Jutsu as well as Japanese sword iaido and cutting techniques. Vince Palumbo - 8th Grade Black Belt and Stick Fighting World Champion Visits CMAA
